Problem starting the PcHelpWare server on a Win7 x64

Post by garga »

I have used PcHelpWare for a while with great success but I run into problem when trying to start the server on a Win7 x64 machine. No message shows at all after double clicking the compressed exe file. The viewer works fine. I tied running as administrator and/or in XP compatibility mode.

I remember helping a friend with windows 7 but I think they had the 32-bit edition. I know Win7 x64 requires signed drivers. Could this be a problem?

Please reply even if it is to say that you have no problems using PCH on a Win7 x64 system.

It also doesn't start on XP x64 Edition. Pretty sad, in my opinion, since this is the best OS Microsoft ever released thus far,.

The problem turns out to be the requirement for driver signing on a x64 system. I guess it is the video driver that captures the screen.

If on reboot you press F8 and select "Disable Driver Signing" (or whatever the last line says), the client will execute and function properly.

Hope this helps someone.
