Do I need a Repeater? Mode?

Post by kenny782 »

Okay my objective is this, anyone can run a single click package in order to connect to my viewer. I am the only viewer involved.

I have a server and full access to my NAT router so I can forward whatever I want.

I want to try do my best to eliminate any connectivity problems, I'm dealing with some stupid people lol
If I have no need for a repeater fine.
If I don't really but under some uncommon circumstances it could solve a problem then lets do it.

So I am the only viewer.
Sometimes I'm on the same LAN as my server (behind the NAT firewall)
Sometimes I'm somewhere on the internet, obviously outside the NAT router.

What would be my ideal setup?

On a side note in an emergency being able to access some kind of web based viewer such as Java would be great!

At this point my web server will be the same as my VNC server so that should make things simpler.

Thanks in advance,

Kenny

sorry it's been a long week.
It looks like mode I is what I want right?

Now will that handle things when I'm on the same LAN as the repeater?

Thanks.

Have you checked out the ChunkVNC subforum here? It's a more streamlined package that includes the repeater.

You would want to leave a repeater open and running if you (as the viewer) will be roaming, as you say you are.
