Problems with Windows 7

Post by Poweruser »

Hi,

we installed UVNC 1.0.8.2 full at some client sites, with win7 32 and 64, also use the SingelClick version. We always did a full install, not changing options, just setting the server password.

The client call use with start server-add new client-dyndns name with port. We also use uvnc 1.0.8.2 as viewer an XP system.

After this setup, i (with my viewer) can't klick or type anything on the win7 system, and have extremly slow screen transfer speed, if i have one (30 seconds after clicking the refresh button). It works only when the server is "run as" administrator. The singleclick version didn't even work with "run as" administrator.

On the win7 64 bit with 64bit uvnc setup, we could not set the server password. When we did a right click on the blue server icon, we got a message that the password is not set, but couldn't set the password. So we deinstalled und use the 32bit setup, which worked.

This is not the simple "install and use" behavior that i was use to with uvnc software on XP systems.

I don't have an exact answer for you but here are some tips.

Make sure the server is set to disable Aero.
Try installing the Vista mirror driver.

I (or better I guide my clients to ) install UVNC with the standard option, and so the vista mirror driver is installed and (i think so) the "disable aero"-option is aktive as default.

I will check it with a client....

My actual solution to this issue was to uninstall VNC completely and remove the registry keys. Then reboot and reinstall it. It now works properly.
