Can't interact with host

Post by glen4cindy »

I have ONE machine on my network at home that is giving this problem. I have UVNC setup the same on all PC's in my network.

I have 1 Win 7, 1 Vista, and 2 XP Pro.

All other machines/connections are fine except one of the XP Pro machines. I installed UVNC the same way on all machines, all have the same password, but, all have different ports. On this one machine, I can connect to it from any other machine in my network, but, I cannot interact with it. I cannot click on any icon, the start button, the taskbar area, nothing responds. If I try to do a file transfer it says that file transfer is disabled on remote machine. I did not disable file transfer, and since I set things up identical to the other machines, I don't know what is making this one behave differently. I checked the Connection Options screen and I have not checked View Only.

I can use THIS XP Pro machine to connect to any other PC on my network, and everything works fine, I can click on everything just as on all the other machines. The problem only occurs when I try to connect to this one machine.

Is there something I'm missing here? I have the latest UVNC updates installed on all of my machines.

Thanks.

I tried the above steps to reset TCP/IP and it did not work.

I also tried to uninstall and reinstall Ultra VNC, and I am having the same problem.

I tried to use Logmein.com and it functions fine, but, I really like Ultra VNC much better.

Very confused by this.

Anything else I can try?

Thanks.

No help with this problem from anybody???

There must be an answer to this situation other than reinstalling the OS. I'd appreciate any other suggestions. This is the first time I have had such problems with UVNC.

Thanks!

how did you uninstall uvnc ?
uninstall uvnc through add/remove is not enough
you also need to full delete ultravnc folder
and clean registry.
and reboot
then re-install.

have seen where the input fails, cursor and keyboard. uninstall and delete the folder. reboot. reinstall uvnc as admin. after it is installed and the screens go blank for a second, vnc hooks into the video, go under the display setting and change something. like the monitor resolution or screen 1 or screen 2 as extended. then set as you like.

it should behave better, the screen-mouse mapping goes screwy.

Do you have 2 monitors? I have noticed if I install on a computer that has 2 monitors that you can not do anything with the mouse. The keyboard does work. I have tried this on various computers. If I take off the 2nd monitor it works ok. This is with the current version of UVNC. On the keyboard you have to do something like ctrl esc to see that the keyboard is working. I did notice on the install screen of the current version 1.0.8.2 one of the fixes that it states in the install screen is keyboard fix. I have tried everything from the driver to unchecking everything to checking everything. While connected to the remote computer I disconnected the 2nd monitor then did not even have to disconnect for UVNC to work. I have tried this on a few computers with dual monitors. Clean install Windows that has never had UVNC on it before.

Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows XP sp3. They are not the same computers all new installs. Windows 7 Windows XP. I can get to work after I went back to 1.0.8.0 build oct 31 2009 22:06:26 The current 1.0.8.2 Build Dec 6 2009 16:45:11 does not work on any computer I put it on that has 2 monitots. I can make it switch to full screen and even go to the 2nd screen but I can not click on any icon no matter where I click on the screen. I went and uninstalled 1.0.8.0 deleted the install folder and got rid of the registry enteries rebooted installed 1.0.8.2 back again just to do this again after your reply still the same thing and after I removed all again and went back to 1.0.8.0 build oct 31 all is working ok so it looks like for now we just need to go back to 1.0.8.0 and were ok. The mouse function in 1.0.8.2 is what does not work.
