setting VNC 11d on a new machine.
setting VNC 11d on a new machine.
I have been using UltraVNC for years now. I have it running on 2 computers without a problem. I just set it up on a new machine at a different location and can not connect. The new computer had DSL directly connected, no router. Firewalls are off. I noticed that the diamond inside the server is not yellow, as it is on my other computers. Now sure how to set it up without a router?

This is my question, sorry I did not realize I was not logged in.
I am running XP, not sure what the issue is.

Well if your computer that you are connecting to is directly connected to the internet without a router then you shouldnt have to do anything but put in the public IP.tarkwolf wrote:I have been using UltraVNC for years now. Put your mouse over the server icon to get your IP address. If the icon doesnt give you your ip you may be running it in listener mode.?
And you have the XP SP2 or SP1 firewall off on the computer directly connected to the internet?
Re: setting VNC 11d on a new machine.
are you using the ip that the server gives you(blue/yellow diamond) or the outside ip given by "ipchicken"?Ipsec wrote:Well if your computer that you are connecting to is directly connected to the internet without a router then you shouldnt have to do anything but put in the public IP.tarkwolf wrote:I have been using UltraVNC for years now. Re: setting VNC 11d on a new machine.
I have tried both ip addresses and neither work, im concerned that that inside of the blue diamond is a different color then on the 2 machines I have it working correctly. The machine that is not working has a yellow/red inside the blue diamond. On the 2 machines that are working properly the inside area is clearly yellow. Does the inside color define some setting?Ipsec wrote:Well if your computer that you are connecting to is directly connected to the internet without a router then you shouldnt have to do anything but put in the public IP.tarkwolf wrote:I have been using UltraVNC for years now.
