Mirror Driver Issues (usual fixes don't work)

Post by SamboNZ »

Hi Guys,

I'm having issues getting the Video Hook Driver going and my issue isn't resolved by any of the standard fixes.

System Details:
Win7 x64 client, XP SP3 Server
UltraVNC v1.0.8.2 on both Client & Server
Server: nVidia 8400GS with v196.21 WHQL drivers, set to 1280x720 32bit Color

What I've Tried:
- Installed VNC Server on XP PC (physically on PC, not installed via VNC)
- Included Hook Driver in the install options
- Checked Device Manager - Hook driver is present and has no reported issues
- Checked VNC Server properties whilst connected with VNC Client - Video Hook Driver ticked, status: 'Required Version 1.22' and '1.00.22 driver not active'.
- Rebooted & tried again, no go.
- Changed [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Hardware Profiles\Current\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\vncdrv\DEVICE0\"Attach.ToDesktop] to '1'
- Changed Screen res.
- Tested again, no go.
- Uninstalled Hook Driver via uninstall batch file
- Rebooted
- Reinstalled Hook Driver via install batch file
- Tested, no go.
- Tried the above 'tweaks' again, no go.

I'm out of ideas! Does anyone have any further suggestions as to why this doesn't go?

Sam.
