users names, passwords, and interface rant

I don't understand why you can't make the interface more user friendly, i can't figure out how to simply make a user name and password to log in with, seems to me this should be simple.. can't u just make a spot in the settings that allows to enter a username and password that would allow access... you have a place to put a password with no place for user name... the application i am trying to use to connect and control the vnc pc is apple remote desktop 2 (yes it supports vnc) and it has a place for a user name.. wtf am i supposed to put.. cuz my actual login name doesn't work. for god sakes.. put a tutorial on how to set this up and test it... you have nothing that walks a first time user through setup.. faq didn't help at all with setup.. I am sorry for the harsh criticism but sometimes it is needed. Maybe the rest of you are used to these harsh user interfaces and uncomprehensible preference windows, I must apololgize.. i come from the world of Apple and Mac OS X, where developers actually have the end user in mind when they develop an app. I do appreciate that this software was free and i respect the time and effort you put into it.. just a rant.

OK, you want to have a username/password authentication.
There is MS-Logon I and II available, although I don't know if this is compatible with apple remote desktop 2.
In the admin properties page you can check "Require MS-Logon" for MS-Logon I.
If you additionally check "New MS-Logon" you get MS-Logon II.
Then you can configure who is allowed to connect to the computer with "Configure MS-Logon groups".

You may ask why there are two different MS-Logon methods.
Maybe we can get all the functionality into one single method one day.
But at the moment you should use
- MS-Logon I if you use Win9x machines with UltraVNC server
- MS-Logon II if you need cross-domain authentication (computer in domain A, user in domain B).
