An on-going problem with 1.0.8.2 on Windows XP

Post by dbdataplus »

I have installed this program on 7 different XP systems and encounter a recurring problem:

When there is no specific login named "administrator" -- such was when the user puts in another name during installation -- or on XP home edition where the primary user IS the Admin ....

UVNC pops up a "RUN AS" box during installation, to which there appears to be no "right" answer.

After assigning the password and clicking apply and OK, the RUN AS pop up appears and suggests that we run as the current user (default) {system_name}\{current} or as "another user" (blank). The check box "protect this user's data files .. etc" is checked.

No matter what option or combination of button and box is checked, "OK" simply closes the pop up only to be replaced by another.

On some systems we thought that possibly what's happening was that "current user" doesn't have sufficient privilege to install or run the service, but last night we encountered an XP Home addition were the ONLY user on the system is the only name --- and has full administrator privileges, so we know it's not strictly speaking an admin rights issue.

Compounding the problem is that, on these systems, the default installation is to disable viewer inputs, so we can't correct this by remote control.

Can anyone please shed some light on this?

Have you unchecked the check box "protect this user's data files .. etc" AND unchecked the user impersonification on file transfer?
That did the trick for me - it might be a problem with the service account not being allowed desktop interaction.
Hope this helps...
