I am contemplating installing RC18 in a situation where the server PC is on a boat and connected to the net via satellite.
The satellite service effectively charges by the byte, so to minimize cost I wish to minimize traffic.
I am not too concerned about quality/accuracy, although "fuzzy" is not real useful.
Could someone (hopefully one of the developers?) give me some detailed advice on how to configure the server and viewer to achieve this objective?
Thanks in anticipation...

Configuring where connection is by satellite
i think Ultr@VNC is already optimal as long as all what you need is minimal bandwidth usage not max speed.
screen updates will be transferred on demand in very small footprint, and for most types of lines it's comfortable.
be aware, though, that the ping time over your connection will be the shortest interval of screen refresh. that means when the ping time comes to 700ms, VNC would not reach 1.5fps.
that's why i'm a bit worried about the satellites.
right now there's a little (experimental!) [topic=1624]improvement[/topic]about it being done.
you may want to check it out, just in case you're disappointed that the mega-speed advantage is totally ruined.
