Stable? Hmmmm

Post by dbdataplus »

I have been having a fairly hard time setting up REPEATER and I'll make a separate post about that elsewhere.

Issues with 1.0.8 that don't fall under the heading of "stable" to me:

1) During server installation (on XP at least) after it brings up the window for expressing a VNC password, it then brings up a "RUN AS" dialog box and the choices are "run as {current user}" with a sub check for "protect data" or in the alternative "run as Administrator." Well, if the XP HAS NO Administrator account, then there is no right answer. Every option/combination you check will tell you that it failed and repeats the dialog box several times before it finally gives up. I clearly understand what you were aiming for .. but the implementation is a bit of a mess.

2) When you start the viewer and you get the "Connect" dialog box .. the one that says "negotiating protocol..." If you CANCEL that box for any reason, the "vncviewer.exe" process remains even though the VCN viewer dialog box is gone.

3) If you start the viewer and the Connecting box (see above) fails or if you get a password error, then you get the VNC viewer dialog box back up .... but all subsequent attempts also fail. In other words if I mistype the password, I have to close all boxes and double-click the desktop Icon to start all over.

These are very repeatable and I've tried them on 2 different XP machines.

thanks -- also I noted that the repetitive failure of the connect box ONLY happens if there are residual vncviewer.exe processes hanging out -- and I failed to mention that.

I'll upgrade ASAP
