Need help setting up UltraVnc.
Need help setting up UltraVnc.
So this is what I have done so far. I have downloaded ultravnc server and viewer. I also have created my own .exe file that I plan to post on my website so people will be able to click on it, and it will send a request to us and we will then be able to connect with them. I have also opened up ports on my router. I then used a different computer and clicked on the .exe file and it started to connect and then stopped almost instantly. Any advice? Sorry for being a newbie.
Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
Please give us some more info, operating system, ultravnc version, etc... Thanks

Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
I just tried using Chunk VNC and when I went to test it, it could not connect.
I remote desktop to my laptop and then I ran it and the number popped up so I put laptop for the host and the number it gave me in the number spot and clicked ok but it did not work...

Did the ID number show up in the repeater log?Abstract wrote:I just tried using Chunk VNC and when I went to test it, it could not connect.

Doesn't sound like you followed the Installation Guide correctly.

Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
Chunk isn't what I want to use. I want to be able to use UltraVNC Single Click. This would make it the easiest way for our customers to use. A lot of our customers are far from tech savvy and Chunk would just get confusing for them. Any ideas with helping me out with Single Click?
Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
@Abstract - ChunkVNC is less confusing than SC. You give the customer InstantSupport.exe and they run it! All they have to do is tell you the ID number, so you can enter this in the UltraVNC Viewer (or easier ChunkVNC Viewer bundled with ChunkVNC.)
SC III and ChunkVNC both require the Repeater to be working correctly. It appears that your router isn't port forwarding correctly.
Have you tried just using the non-commercial repeaters to check that everything apart from the repeater is correctly setup?

Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
Okay, So I know that my ports are open because I went to http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and it pinged my ports and showed that my 5500 and 5901 ports are open. When using Single Click, I think it has something to do with my .exe file because every time that I open it on another machine it will open with the box but then when you double click on one of the ports it closes the .exe and nothing happens. I assumed it was something in the helpdesk.txt file but the only things I changed in it was the ip address so it matched my helpdesk computer's ip.

Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
Sounds like you are having a network issue of some sort...
You said you had to reinstall the server that runs your repeater:
[post=65083][/post]
Is there a software firewall that could be blocking it?

Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
There are no firewalls blocking my applications nor my exe file.....I don't know how it could be my network because our servers are running fine and they are backing up regularly...also all my ports are open. Its not my network...it has to be something in the exe or the creator for the exe.
Re: Need help setting up UltraVnc.
Sorry I can't be of more help, I don't have much experience with SC.
