Windows 7 and windows user authentication

Post by hasfurt »

I have been searching the site for the last couple of days and still am not having any luck. We just installed Windows 7 Enterprise x64(with domain connection) on a workstation on our network. I downloaded the latest version of UVnc 1.0.8 for x64 and can not get it to prompt for Windows username or password. This is what I have tried already:

Went into ultravnc.ini and changed mslogonrequired and newmslogon to 1
I then changed AuthRequired to 0 so it wont use the basic password and it prompt for windows username and password

I also wiped out the 2 passwd(2) fields in the ini so it can connect

I verified that the mslogonAcl file sees the ultraVNC Access group that is in our Active Directory

I turned off all UNC notifications thinking that might have caused issues. So using a 32bit viewer I can get to the work station through UVNC and control it except any user in the company can get on as well.

Any help would be great. Thanks, :-D

So I have tried and saw some of these posts already.

I had already turned off "Use sharing Wizard" that was the bottom option from Windows 7 not sure if that is the same as simple file sharing.

I know it is not an unknown username (at least I don't think so) since we are currently running another version of UVNC and it is prompting for the username correlty.

THe CAD.exe I had already checked as well by browsing to the IP that is listed in that thread.

And the first link that you posted is just about CAD and not about authentication but will give it a try since cad is not working right (least of my problems).

Thanks for the reply redge

So I will admit I did not try the obvious but will come clean that the reason this was not working is because we were trying to use the older version of the viewer (1.2.x). As soon as I tried it with the new version of the viewer it prompted for a password. Hopefully this might help someone else in the future.
