[solved] Rocketdock issue... any software have transparency

Post by Darkstrike »

Hey all,

I have a small dilemma and I was curious if anybody could help me with it. It's not drastically important, so if nobody has any ideas, it's not a problem. It's more of an inconvenience than a show-stopping issue for me :)

Here it is. I am at university most of the year. I remote into the family computer at home to update it's many programs, etc, as I am the tech guy in the family, and I use UltraVNC to do this. The desktop I remote from is running Win7 64-bit with 64-bit UltraVNC 1.0.8.2 and connecting to a desktop running WinXP SP3 32-bit with 32-bit UltraVNC 1.0.8.2.

First off, the connection is fine, I can see the desktop and do things no problem. The inconvenience is this: my family uses RocketDock on the right side of the screen as a shortcut to our most-used programs. For some reason, it does not show up. It is running; I could see it on that desktop's monitor if I were physically there looking at it, but on my end on my remote screen in UltraVNC Viewer, Rocketdock is just....invisible. As I mentioned, it's not show-stopping because I can obviously still access things the long way by browsing to them in My Computer, but it does waste time, and sometimes when I remote in to help I have very little of that between my classes, my practicum, and my job and every second counts...which is why this is an inconvenience.

I have literally no idea what the problem could be. The video drivers on the host are up to date, and so is VNC, on both ends. It's set to "show desktop," so that's not the problem...I'm at a loss. I know it's not a major problem, but I was curious if anybody had any thoughts?

Cheers, and thanks for any help! :)

EDIT: I also should mention I use Rocketdock on our other family computer and it shows up fine in UltraVNC when I remote in, so this seems isolated.

Cool, I don't have that enabled on the other computer that Rocketdock is visible on, so it's odd that it works there, but I shall give it a try and report back, thanks!
