Hello all,
I've tried everything to get the VNC server to run automatically upon restart of the machine. I have installed it as a service and the service always starts when you restart the machine. However, I can never connect to the VNC server without first logging into the machine and then manually starting the server myself and the icon then appears down in the system tray. I've looked through the General Help discussions, but have not found a solution. Does anyone have any ideas? This is happening on more than one machine.
I'm using Windows 2000 Advanced Server and Ultra VNC v1.0.0 RC 18.
Thanks for any and all help.

Help to get VNC Server to run automatically
running VNC as a service is what you need it to be doing for it to actually run on reboot. Services start regardless of who is logged in. So you definately have the right idea.
Do you have any other flavors of VNC installed? If so you may want to remove them from these computers first...
Does it connect at all - say unable to connect to server due to blank password?
RC18 has two password areas - User and Admin - make certain they are both set.
And then just reinstall the server service - start - programs - vnc - server- you can remove then reinstall the service.
Of course rebooting the machine after you do any of the following -
Remove any old VNC programs
Reinstall the service on the computer.

this requires someone to log into the computer for the startup folder to take effect.ultrake wrote:With me Ultra VNC always starts with Windows XP, because I have put the program in my startup folder.
Give it a try !
I believe he wants it to start so he can remotely log in to the server. without having to physically log in also.

Did you activate some software restriction about software and hardware signed and won't start until you unblock restriction about the UltraVNC software not signed ?
Like designed for windows xyz
or
some software like anti-virus and spyware, worm restrict to start until you autorize !

I wanted to thank you all for your suggestions. I did try what Ipsec suggested, but still had no luck. We have decided to use Terminal Server for our solution through our vpn. I did not try the other suggestions.
FYI: redge, we don't have any kind of restrictions similar to what you described on our server.
