Can't connect using UltraVNC

Post by AyrishGrl »

I am trying to connect to my XP home machine from outside my network. Inside it works fine. Outside I launch the viewer and get a password prompt, password is accepted and I then see my display pop up for about 1 second and then it dissappears. I check what services are running and winvnc.exe is no longer there. I have a Linksys router which is port forwarding and am running Norton FW which has the appropriate ports open. What's the problem here?

XP Firewall off? Do you have XP SP2? if so you have to tell it there to allow ports also on the client machine.
