In case the connection can not be made because server is frozen or something like that, only dialog to close the viewer is 'Cancel' button in status window.
So far, I don't remember seeing a version of Vncviewer that would really close when you press 'Cancel' in Status Window. From Task manager you may find several vncvievers running after several attempts to close viewer with 'Cancel' in Status Window.

Re: Viewer does not close with 'Cancel' from Status Windows
vncviewer and ID ....Cancel = timeout... 5 min to repeater linux/win
is not OS depend.
repeater bug or vncviewer bug ?
direct connection, it close immediately as my experience build 1.0.8.1 built 17 nov. 2009
work around:
end task on vncviewer image Name under Processes tab if we don't want to wait.
is not OS depend.

Let me clear this a bit.redge wrote:vncviewer and ID ....Cancel = timeout... 5 min to repeater linux/win

I mean a situation where the server is running but is frozen so viewer tries to connect, but connection is never made.
Viewer shows Status window.
I wait for 10 minutes, no time-out occurs.
I press Cancel, and wait for another 10 minutes, no time-out occurs, vncviewer is still listed as a process in Task Manager.
So, only way to exit Viewer in this case is to kill the process in Task manager, which I find a poor way to use the viewer.
In case the server is not running at all, viewer shows a MessageBox "Failed to connect to server!" and exits beautifully when I press 'Close'. This kind of behaviour is what I'm expecting to have.

fixed half OK
please don't open error message box because user force Cancel at vncviewer.
what you thinking ? I'm ask too much ?

Re: Viewer does not close with 'Cancel' from Status Windows
I believe it is Ok, but I can not test it because I updated to latest build of 1081 and it does not cause server to freeze anymore. And I don't have the previous build of 1081.redge wrote:> viewer cancel now direct disconnect socket

Re: Viewer does not close with 'Cancel' from Status Windows
you can test it...
viewer
VNC server [ ID:45454656 ]
[x] proxy/repeater [ www.uvnc.com:5901 ]
Then the viewer stop at negotiate protocol version ( he is actual waiting for the server)
If you now press cancel -> viewer proper stop, but still give a message
that he is stopped.
Next update, message will be supressed when user manual pressed cancel... he know the viewer is stopped.

Vncviewer.exe exits properly.
