_Enabling_ tray Icon?

Post by OldNick »

I looked in the FAQ about this. It shows a registry entry that allows disabling of the Tray Icon. However, my trouble is the opposite. I have installed UVNC as a Server under Win XP. At first reboot, the tray Icon appeared, but it has now disappeared. It is very useful to check if the server is running, and also to provide all IP addresses for connection via Client.

The Registry on the PC simply does not have the entry shown in the FAQ.

I have tried removing and replacing the Server etc.

I gues there is another question following on. Once having established a Network connection, either Ethernet or DUN, can you scan the connection for the IP addresses of the various machines, before connecting with VNC?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I did reinstal it. I will try again. I was not happy abot entering ghe regkey, as there did not even seem to be a group that matched what is written in the posting to the FAQ.

Thanks for the reply.

I was under the impression 19 was still "developmental". Unless my problem is a known with RC18 and XP, and RC19 has addressed it, and that is donc, mented somewhere, then I am always hesitant to jump to the latest.

What is this for exactly? I can't see it in the list of registry entries in the UNVNC help pages.

Thanks

+This is normal auto installed by the service himself, but activated at boot time.

+The servicehelper start the tray icon in service mode, but is also responsible for optaining user information about the current logged user.
Current FT implementation need to know the current user, and grand access rights based on that user.
Some options are user based, without the icon, the general service options are used.

Thanks for the reply.

I guess the question is: Will that setting in the registry cause the icon to appear in the tray? And also why would it not be there, if it;s automatic?
