The Mac is running Snow Leopard, which has straight VNC built in. UltraVNC (running on Vista) sees the mac, asks for the password and starts the login process but then, immediately, says the connection is dropped and will retry. That's as far as it goes.
Any ideas?

Tried it. No joy. Still drops immediately. Also see the error: "WriteExact: Socket error while writiing"
The older DirectX VNC had a server disconnected error.

I have a similar issue as this from Windows 7 to Mac, my mouse gets connected but screen is just black and hanging in status "Please wait - Initial screen Loading".
Have you solved your issue yet?

Re: Control of a Mac from an UltraVNC client
Switching the Format and Encoding from Auto to Tight fixed the problem. No idea why.
