Encrypted connection doesn't work

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to use an encrypted connection, but it doesn 't work.

here is a snippet from my helpdesk.txt:

I've included my rc4.key from my UltraVNC directory to the custom directory.

Note that the not secured connection works like a charm.

Finally when i'm closing the SC I ended with this message:

Connection failed - Error reading Protocol Version

Possible causes:

- You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the server uses a
DSMPlugin

During connection try, I see a horizontal white line at the top center of my screen, when clicked that, I get a message that vnc isn't responding (i can force it to close of wait).

When I'm opening the tray icon from the viewer the checkbox from the plugin is checked and the rc4.key is found.

I really don't know what's wrong, probably a noob issue.

Just a two points suggest to check:

1. Are you sure the DSMplugin using at the SC.exe and VNCviewer are the same? Different version are not compatible. The one provided with the present SingleClick online creator is 1.2.4.0,, and before that (about 2 month ago) it used 1.1.6

The latest UVNC installer bundles the 1.2.4.0, while previous version bundled 1.2.2.0

Also, if you are using 1.2.4.0 plugin, you should use it to create the key rather than using one generated with previous version.


2. If your listening viewer is running on Vista, try to copy and run the vncviewer.exe to a non-restricted area . The listening viewer may fail to create temporary file when inside these restricted folder (e.g. \Windows or \Program Files in Vista have restriction & protection by the OS) thus unable to use DSMplugin

updated to latest version now, noticed the new MSRC4Plugin.dsm in VNC directory (old version was 122), created a new pair of key files with the new plugin, generated the SC with the new key, but still the same result

Program is running with administrative privileges, so write acces shouldn't be a problem I think.

I haven't restarted yet after update, probably this isn't the current issue.

user: foo
pass: foobar
it uses the newer MSRC4Plugin.dsm version and should solve the compatibility issues between the versions.
