I have UltraVNC viewer running in listen mode on one computer.
I run the custom SC exe file on my laptop.
The "local" version connects and works fine.
On that version I entered the IP address of the listening machine into the HelpDesk.txt file and created the custom EXE file.
My IP is Dynamic - I setup DynDNS and have a hostname.
Ports 5500, 5800 and 5900 have been forwarded on my Router.
I tried to connect non-locally two ways - both failed.
1. Got my current dynamic IP - put it into HelpDesk.txt, make EXE and ran it on remote laptop. Listening computer never heard it.
2. Rather than using current dynamic IP, I entered the DynDNS hostname. Same problem - listening computer never heard it.
I successfully pinged by DynDNS hostname - it answered back, showing the correct IP address of my router.
Prior to all this I forwarded the ports of my router (5900, 5800 and 5500 - both TCP and UDP to the local IP of the listening machine.)
I followed the directions on PortForard.com - but still think this is the problem.
Because:
1. UltraVNC works locally.
2. Pinging my DynDNS is sucessful and shows the current IP address of my router.
Therefore I think the port forwarding must be wrong even though I followed the instructions step by step.
My DSL Router/Modem is a Westell 327w from Verizion.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,

Re: UltraVNC SC - only works locally.
Hey Guys,
I'm having trouble getting VNC Single Click to work with a remote computer via an Internet connection. I can get it to work between two computer on my local home network. I've tried both UltraVNC Single Click and PCHelpWare - and gotten the same frustrating results.
Even though I have setup up a DynDNS account and forwarded the ports on my router . . . I still think the problem is with the router. Because my VNC ports test scan shows them as CLOSED - but I can VNC on the local network which tells me the local PC is 'open.' . . . as least that's my theory.
I have details notes with screenshots if more info is needed to help.
Please let me know what you think.
Thank you,

Re: UltraVNC SC - only works locally.
hello,
The same problem here I tried everything on ubuntu, suse, windows 7 & xp but no luck. I even tried with two routers(zyxel & siemens) and nothing changed. ports are open, firewall set or disabled and locally i can connect but when i try on a remote via internet "failed to connect to server" error killing me!!! but I still think is something to do with router. this days i will try some more routers from friend to exclude the hardware. If someone find some better idea please post. Thanx!!
