I'm a long-time user of UVNC (1.0.1 and 1.0.2), and I just now decided to upgrade from 1.0.2 to 1.0.6.5. I did a complete uninstall of 1.0.2 and rebooted, and then installed 1.0.6.5. I selected "download mirror driver" on the appropriate screen in the 1.0.6.5 installer, but the mirror driver wasn't installed. I did a complete uninstall, reboot, and re-install of 1.0.6.5 again, and the same thing hapened - the mirror driver is simply not installed. Then I tried 1.0.6.5 on a 2nd PC also running XP Pro SP3, and the same thing happened there. (I have not tried 1.0.6.5 on any Vista or Win7 machines yet.)
I looked through these forums and saw a few other posts about similar issues in recent versions. So I was able to re-extract the drivers.zip and then run the Install.bat under driver\xp, and the mirror driver was installed and now works fine. But surely this is a big and not intended? But I'm not sure, because the option is worded "download" mirror driver. I assumed that was a misnomer, and that the mirror driver should be INSTALLED if you check that box, right? There's no mention that I saw about having to download and install the mirror driver separately in this new version. But if this IS intended, then in my opinion it's a bad change.
Also, from my perspective, just now upgrading from 1.0.2 without having used any of the other versions in between. . . I think the new icons are ugly. The design and colors of the old icons (which the UltraVNC Viewer Directx shorctut still uses) look MUCH better. The new blue color looks really horrible, and the new eyeball design and icon border look VERY BLURRY, especially on the small system tray icon. The UltraVNC server icon is now the worst-looking one in my system tray. I might revert back to 1.0.2 just because I don't want to look at that icon. (If these icons look good on Vista or Win7, great, but put the old ones back for XP please.)
Thanks,
Raging_Sage

you are right, if selected, it should be downloaded and detect OS and install.
but if installed is problem for remote install via rdp

if i remember,
you can put your own icon but i don't remember the name of the 2 icons
(connected and disconnected icons)
