I, like a full on bone head forgot my password that I had set on my viewer. I spent a whole day configuring my server and really don't want to have to go through that again. (the reason I lost the password from viewer in first place was I migrated to new system. I have access to old system. Is there a reg entry or some method to retrieve what my password is on my existing viewer?

Re: Password Recovery
I sent you a private message with a link to a tool that'll do the trick.
Re: Password Recovery
Thank you mattice06082,
However, I used the app you suggested. Started up Viewer, and even started up server (on same box for that nice infinite regression effect) and the app is still not providing me with the pass. I tried searching reg (but I don't recall installing phw when I first set it up (I might be wrong since it was a while ago.) I really dread having to have to setup my server again (custom interface, icon and the works). Any other ideas on how I can retrieve it or where it might be stored?
Regards,
Bon

Re: Password Recovery
Sorry about that. The link I sent you was for UltraVNC and not PcHelpWare. Perhaps one of the developers can chime in. If I stumble across something I'll let you know.
Re: Password Recovery
Thanks for trying.
I may just have to redo the whole kit and kaboodel. Might be time for a new interface anyway

Re: Password Recovery
Why is the password hidden in the PcHelpWare_viewer?
The hidden password is security against my self.
In a next version the password hide should be possible to shift.
Thanks for programming.

Re: Password Recovery
Pchelpware use the Standard MS encryption to save settings.
The password you enter is used as encryption key.
We don't save the password anywhere, it isn't hidden, it just don't exist on disk.

Re: Password Recovery
Dear Rudi,
the password is used for the encrytion key and I must know it for every created server with option "Does the user need to enter the password".
I can select saved .phw and start the viewer, but I never can unhidden see the used password that the user must type in. The password in the password field is displayed hidden (four points). This is what I mean with security against my self. An offen displayed password were not a secruity lapse here.

Re: Password Recovery
PCHelpWare_viewer:
I saved a new .phw with password and create a server, also start goes well
After start PCHelpWare_viewer again and select the .phw alltimes there is no hidden password in the password field. If typed in the used pw and click start the connection was possible.
After cut the passwords to 7 characters I can see the hidden password in the password field and also start goes well without typed in the password.
feature: For use customized PCHelpWare_starter's with different passwords the password should be displayed in unhidden form.
