Remote connection showing as localhost WTF !?!??!?

Post by operat0r »

I have been using ultravnc for a long time
I use the vnc repeater
I use single click for the clients
* no AV on client machine no firewall etc.. ( windows updates etc but nothing else ...... )
* this is BAD ... I wonder if firewalls see the same connection to "localhost" if that is true you could not have to worry about firewall software stopping winvnc ...

* ISSUE: I have hidden auto reconnect script that checks for established connections on port 3389 ( my VNC port ) using netstat so if I ever lose connection/crash etc .. it will auto reconnect. The check fails because the port is different and on LOCALHOST !?!?!?

Example :

the user first ran the script I got dropped !! ( the localhost:1119 SHOULD BE c-71-199-163-139.hsd1.ga.comcast.net:3389 ....

[TCP] winvnc.exe
PID: 2420
State: ESTABLISHED
Local: Duane1000211c:1271
Remote: localhost:1119

after running it again it works fine ... no disconnects

[TCP] winvnc.exe
PID: 1532
State: ESTABLISHED
Local: duane1000211c.desk.corp.nri:1322
Remote: c-71-199-163-139.hsd1.ga.comcast.net:3389

* my question is does this happen VERY strange impossible even ... ???
* or maybe ultravnc has some kind of local proxy mode that is hidden or something ?
* maybe windows is teh sucks at netstat ??? and is just wrong
* seen with tcpconview.exe netstat and processs explorer all say localhost so its not just netstat .. its windows or some winvnc.exe FOO ! !?!?!?!

if I can figure out what this is I would like to test it with firewalls because you could circumvent any firewall with it because windows says its a "LOCAL" connection ... WTF
