Best SC to use?

Post by networkn »

Hi There!

I am still on the hunt for a suitable SC Solution for Vista/Windows7.

[topic=15865][/topic]

This mentions an update, and I am wondering if I should use this to try and solve my current issues which in order of priority are:

1) Speed (Aero Disabled is Fine so long as it's enabled when I disconnect)
2) UAC Ability (Able to Click it without customer interaction)
3) Must prompt at my end to accept connection
4) Seamless (End user hassle free)
5) Support 4 Customizable connections, definable at time of creation is fine.
6) File transfer and chat ability

I just want something like the original SC whereby there is a list of preconfigured addresses, but it seems to work PROPERLY with Vista and W7.

On the server side (My end, I am running UVNC latest build as of today and using VNC Viewer in Listen Mode. Should I use the proper server utility and should I select any options in whichever option to optimize for speed?

Hi networkn,

I personally would say:
SCPrompt:
[topic=14809][/topic]

is the best ;)
Iam actually working at this project, too and we try to hold this program up to date. with the Settings-manager you can configure your settings of the SC totaly easy with an GUI.

Settings manager:
http://vnc2me.org/en/downloads.html?func=fileinfo&id=12

Concerning Point 2) I tried to get this working for me, too but UAC is very strong ;)
You can not have access and can not control the PC if the User has UAC activated and NO admin rights. Then you only can see the screen and can see what the customer is typing. If he clicks on OK or abort you have control again.
If the user has admin rights the UAC will be disabled bye opening the connection and will be configured as before if you disconnect.

any questions?

best regards,
marc

So I thought the SCPrompt required entering of details each time the user wants to connect? All my Vista users would have administrative rights, does this mean UAC is no longer a problem ?

Hey networkn

Your customer will get an .exe from you like: "networkn_remotesupport.exe" and have to run it. Then an menu will pop up(who is configured by you previously with the settingsmanager) this menu shows for example 2 predefinedconnections. The user has to select one and has to hit "show my screen" thats all.

Yes in your case UAC will never be a problem, UAC will not pop up(whatever you want to configure on the PC) the whole remote session.
No Questions like "Are you reeeeaaaaaly sure that you want to open the readme.txt????" :) will appear also.

best regards,
marc
