Hi- I use ultravnc to manage several Vista machines for a company. I set a new one up recently with version 1.0.6.4 and found it to be completely unusable - I only see vertical bars when I type and I have to move the title bar a little bit to force them to clear up. There are also display artifacts and refresh problems everywhere. I got tired of trying to troubleshoot it, so I simply uninstalled and went back to version 1.0.5.3 and that works just fine..
I noticed that UltraVNC_1.0.6.4_Setup.exe is about 256K smaller than 1.0.5.3, which seems a little strange. Any ideas?
I'm using spam new out-of-the-box dell optiplex workstations with all-defaults vista 32 bit. Any insights are appreciated.

smaller software, code is visual c++ 2008 , cleanup code.
for use less 20% cpu by uvnc 1.0.6.4 easy modifiy by editing ultravnc.ini and modifiy:
MaxCpu=0 (value 20 default) (edit --zero 0 = no limit)
as well, you need to have SCHook.dll on default folder of \program files\ultravnc
and enable poll
other solution if Video Hook driver is not installed or disabled
right click on winvnc systray
properties (not admin properties)

Re: something has changed?
I went with all of the program defaults.. on the old version the hook driver was not selected, which is also the case on the new version.
it works fine on 1.0.5.3 (with the exact same options) but is broken now.
My point was that something has changed, and it seems as if 1.0.6.4 has not been tested for usability under windows Vista.

Re: something has changed?
I am having the similar problem with Vista 64 Home OS. Have reinstalled both the 32 and 64 bit versions at lease twice.
Symptom: As I type no refresh occurs when in the Ultra VNC window. I have to move or wiggle the mouse to get the screen to refresh or update. As long as I am using the mouse pointer in GUI's update's occur.
I am new to Vista 64 Home OS not by desire but by chance or providence. The earlier version for XP worked great, no issues. So something is not quite right.
Connecting a Vista Home 64 to Linux Redhat 4-64.
Thanks
