Mirror driver still not working on vistax64 - uvnc x64 fixed

I have written about this problem before. I have been using uvnc for years with winxp with no problems, and the driver was always working as it was supposed. But I have never managed to make the driver work with any uvnc version on vista x64 (ultimate), including this latest one. The driver installs fine and is detected, but when a client connects to the server I always get:
1.00.22 driver Not Active
I have seen many claims of fixes for this in the various change-logs and I always get excited until I actually install the latest version and find that nothing has changed.
Has anybody managed to get the mirror driver working in vista x64?
If so, please tell me how.

Are you starting the server as service or elevated (run as)?
Vista and WIN7 block driver activation for normal users.

Driver is compatible, but possible the OS checks in winvnc doesn know

Seems it's disabled for
win 2008 R2
win7 32
win 7 64

but vista should work
vista 32
vista 64

Running Vista 64-bit, downloaded UltraVNC v1.0.6.4 x64 installer (a 32 bit exe).

The installer is trying to copy to [drive]\Program Files (x86)\UltraVNC

...and that's where I've stopped for now. Shouldn't the 64-bit application installer be placing everything in \Program Files?

Following up on my last post,

I took a look at the SVN on sourceforge (http://ultravnc.svn.sourceforge.net/vie ... /UltraVNC/ ). The NSIS full install script is at rev 411 and was last updated four months ago. I did not see any provisions for 64bit OS detection/branching. Was I looking at the latest script?

Edited: I thought this project used NSIS to build the installer. Looks like I thought wrong. The referenced thread might still be of some general use. Inno wants ArchitecturesInstallIn64BitMode=x64 and, since you provide separate 32 and 64-bit installers, ArchitecturesAllowed=x64 in the [Setup] section?

With UltraVNC 1.0.6.5 now it seems to work: "Driver is active"
