Mirror driver version confusion

I've got two copies of driver.zip, one downloaded today, the other last September. When I look at dates and versions of mv2.dll for xp, I find that the one with the higher version number has the older date. In the current zip, the file date is 2008-oct-5 and the version is 5.1.2600.1106. In the old zip, the file date is 2008-feb-10 and the version is 6.0.6000.16386. Does the current zip correct past versioning errors or ???

The numbers stand for the driver kit.
I had some trouble with the 6000 kit and recompiled with the older.

Depending on the OS, it can differ.
