I have 1.0.6.4 installed on an XP machine and a Vista x64 machine. When I connecto from the XP machine to the Vista x64 machine I get the password prompt as expected. Once I type in the correct password, I see the viewer launch with a black screen then it quickly flashes the screen of the remote PC in the viewer then exits.
One other odd thing that I see is that there are two winvnc.exe processes running on the XP machine.
Any ideas?
TIA for any and all help!

Re: XP conecting to Vista x64 - Viewer exits
It's a real bummer of a problem. I had version 1.0.4 working with some minor glitches & decided to move up to the latest in hopes of clearing up the glitches, Oops!
If there is anyone from the dev team reading this, I'd be more than happy to run any sort of debug code to get you more information about the problem to enable you to fix it!
TIA

did you try vncviewer quick option = lan or medium except AUTO ?
UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home

In my similar case, viwer side "-noauto" option cure the problem.
I'm using, "vncviewer -noauto -8greyColors -encoding tight".
(Yes, this setting is for very slooow connection)

Not using the auto option worked for me. I just selected the "ultra" option and it is working just fine. Thanks for the suggestion!
