I belong to user group on my winxp. I downloaded UltraVNC_105_binW32.zip and want to start winvnc without install it. But winvnc tells I need administrator to start it.
Do I need administrator to start winvnc? Is there any workaround?
Thanks.

how to change password for normal user
Re: low-privilege user to start winvnc
I'm not changing the password. I just wanted to start winvnc.
In the message you mentioned, I saw there was an option -kill:
-kill
Close winvnc running as service or started as application
But later I found this option couldn't start winvnc as an application. No invocation at all.

Re: low-privilege user to start winvnc
If you don't select "install as a service" you don't need administratirve priveliges (i think). You can start winvnc manually than.

Re: low-privilege user to start winvnc
for run winvnc, you need the vnc password as administrator
then you can run winvnc as user restricted account as soon password is set.
if you no have password set, winvnc run in loop except if you modify variable to ultravnc.ini
the variable with value
AuthRequired=0
this should be used only over closed LAN (inhouse, intranet) or over Virtual Private Network (VPN), OpenSecureShell(SSH), OpenSecureSocketLayer(SSL) but never over Internet (that is public)
