How to connect to a VNC Server outside my network.
I am new to VNC. I am running basic VNC. I have been successful at installing, configuring and connecting to 2 vnc servers on my network. I want to connect to a pc outside of my network, but the IP is 192.168.1.1 and my Belkin router has 192.168.2.xxx hardcoded in its settings. Does anyone know how I can get around the router IP issue? Thanks.

As I said, I'm new to VNC, so I'm not sure what you're saying in your reply. The way I understand, VNC server needs to define the incoming ip and port to allow the connection to work. Since the network I'm trying to connect to is in another state and she uses a different router AND cannot define my router ip in her router settings, I do not understand how to make VNC work? Thanks for your patience.

You have been given GREAT information on how to do what you want. However, if you ever want to know what your outside IP address is, just point your browser to http://www.whatismyip.com/morenito44 wrote:I am new to VNC. I am running basic VNC. This will always tell you what your external IP is for a home networking situation, like if you are going thru a router.
Just in case you might need to know.
