DHCP and IP's

I want to enable DHCP to assign a dynamic IP address to each pc i want to connect to, i then assigna static domain to the dynamic ip so i can connect easily.
Question, is how do i assign a dyanmic ip to the router?????by deault it is 192.168.1.254. I need to assign the a dyanmic ip though i.e 83.70.162.14

This is not really an UltraVNC question. But I will try to help you.

One thing to consider here is that if DHCP will assign addresses on your LAN, you will most likely have a problem. As I see it, in order to get into a system, your router must forward a port to a predictable IP/port combination and the VNC server must be set to accept that port, and they must be different for each local station. So, if your DHCP happens to give any system a different IP next week/month/hour you'll be at a standstill.

I implement VNC on several networks for customers of mine, and I have used 2 different methods.

Method 1: Set local static IPs behind the router. This always works, and to me is the preferred method - only because it is predictable and causes fewer problems that require my presence at the remote site.

Method 2: Have your DHCP server specify its addresses based on MAC address (psuedo-static IP). By this I mean, if your DHCP server assigns addresses based on the MAC address of the network adapter, you can have it always assign the same IP to that machine, making things predictable again.

With either method, you specify machine1 on port 5901, machine 2 port 5902 ... and so on, for both the VNC server application and your router's port forwarding.
