Did I miss it? Is there a way for UVNC SC to delete itself?

Post by nlandas »

I'm curious, we'd love to have staff download UVNC SC from web server from an unpublished link run it and after disconnect have UVNC SC delete itself. Is this possible?

Did I miss it in the set of documents that I read through? If so, I appologize - I've also google'd to find a solution.

Anyone know of an easy way for this to automatically happen? We use both mainly Firefox as our standard browser.

Thanks everyone.

I take it that this isn't possible. UltraVNC SC is extremely useful - perhaps this could become a feature request?

An option to have the exe simply delete itself upon exit.

Thanks,

I've been playing around with the solution called "UVNC-Helper"

[topic=15086]The thread about it is here.[/topic] The guy is very responsive to ideas to improve the setup, so maybe he will be able to help you and include your feature.

His system already works from a URL to download and run the app. I'm sure there would be a way to get it to do what you request. You can even use parameters in the URL to embed your connection data & preferences into the app dynamically. He also has available all the scripts & PHP so you can host it on your own servers if you want.

Swing by the thread and ask away.

You might like to try it out yourself though, as it may already work. I think you would need to use Internet Explorer, and select "RUN" rather than "download". That way, it would run itself from the IE temp area, which whilst not expressly deleted after use, is not in regular visible area (like desktop or My Docs). You can also set IE to clear it's temp cache on every exit, which WOULD then delete the file (and tends to keep the machine running faster & safer in my opinion). However, I use Firefox, which insists on a explicit saved download before a file can be run.

As I said, not sure if this would work, just guessing at the moment. Give it a try a see. Any problems, ask away in the other thread.

Johns solution (highlighted by xpcomputers) does indeed remove itself from your computer. this was not the case in earlier versions, but i am sure it is the case now.
