UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Problem
Hi.
First I have to say that this is an awesome program and works like a charm with the only problem being the auto terminate once an UAC action on Vista is needed. The only way to make it work and it still auto disconnects is by using the WinVNC ver. 1.1.1.3 located on the Advantig OneClick creator and replacing the one from the SC_VNC_Vista_Autoit Offline creator. It disconnects and reconnects around 5 seconds later so we can keep supporting the clients. Is there any violation from using their executable?? I mean, this is Open Source and I’m not using their whole program, just the modified WinVNC.exe, and on top of that they stopped OneClick for RemoteZilla. I have tried the HelpDesk program but still like better the SC option from WinVNC.
Second Question; is there a way to implement like a random Session Code that the customer has to enter provided by the support team before connecting with the Viewer?? A couple days ago somebody wandered on my website and seemed to find the SC application that I use to provide support and kept trying to connect to my viewer but without the plug-in and I had to recreate the SC program with another domain to stop the errors messages from the viewer. The only program that I found with this feature is TeamViewer and Zolved Remote Control. Zolved remote control has the same problems with Vista as the original WinVNC SC. If there’s a way to implement that or at least fix the Vista issue, I will keep using UltraVNC, because right now the Remote Assistance volume is not that big to afford TeamViewer license for commercial use and I would like to keep using UltraVNC of course, already have everything up and running.
Also, is there a way to re-enable the Wallpaper with SC flavor of WinVNC, by using something on the Helpdesk.txt or whatever means possible??
Thanks in advanced for the support and to the developers for this amazing program.

Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
You're free to use it, the winvnc.exe is open source. I think the only changes were adding the auto-reconnect, compiling with mixture of vc6, vc2003, advantig and watcom compilers, adding a manifest and replacing the icons.broly10000 wrote:The only way to make it work and it still auto disconnects is by using the WinVNC ver. 1.1.1.3 located on the Advantig OneClick creator and replacing the one from the SC_VNC_Vista_Autoit Offline creator. Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
Awesome, thank you. I was starting to worry i'll have to remove the Advantig modified WinVNC.exe from my program. By the way is there any revision that doesnt disconnect when UAC comes to play?? I mean i can still use the program and support people but I would like to know that UAC cause the disconect and to see whats on the warning to tell the customer to Allow or not.

Forgot to add the auto-reconnect was added to the winvnc as well as the compiler changes mentioned previously.broly10000 wrote:Awesome, thank you. UAC has to be setup before the connection, with OneClick it was done in the installer not the winvnc.exe portion.

Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
The wallpaper was auto-restored externally by the uninstall program after winvnc closed. The wallpaper disable is part of the original winvnc code.broly10000 wrote:OK, perfect, what about the Wallpaper, can it be reenabled?? and any kind of autentication to avoid somebody messing arround with the Listening Viewer??
The vncviewer wasn't modified in OneClick other than compile methods and manifest. Be sure to use 1.0.5.4 viewer or newer.

My bad, let me rephrase it. Is there a way to enable the wallpapers while conected?? I wonder if the function is embeded on the WinVNC.exe and there's no way to re-enable it while conected.
Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
It's a function of the SC winvnc.exe. I'm not aware of a way to disable the wallpaper removal.broly10000 wrote:My bad, let me rephrase it. Is there a way to enable the wallpapers while conected?? Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
I know it is a normal windows comand because if you go to the "Display Properties" and select your Wallpaper and hit apply it will be displayed on the VNC viewer and the server too with no problem. The thing now would be to find what comand it is and run it to re-enable it again if you want to see it.
I want to do that because you know the cases where the customer is infected with a Spyware that hijacks the Wallpaper, and you wanna make sure you can see that. Thanks for everything. I'll be loking at this post to see if the information is posted, and I'll post it here too if i find it first.

Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
awesome ... didn't think of using advantig winvnc ... now to make something work with it ...
EDIT
thats right ... this doesn't work, as it is ULTRA slow ... i saw that someone DID try this some time back (see [topic=11485]THIS THREAD[/topic] for details somewhere in there ...)
ah well ... back to the drawing board i guess ....
we just have to wait to see what rudi adds into the UVNC server (see 1.0.5.4 forum section)
you got me excited for a minute there ... but at least it works better than the one you have now (which doesn't work at all with UAC ...) so maybe we should get them to add it to the site ... maybe

Re: UltraVNC SC Question and posible solution to Vista Probl
The post referred to an old aero disable method but was not the only method used in the oneclick installer. If you want an updated singleclick winvnc.exe 1.0.0 that disables aero internally without the need for an external program or disabling the themes service let me know and I'll modify it for you. It will only take a couple of minutes.JDaus wrote:awesome ... didn't think of using advantig winvnc ... now to make something work with it ...
I haven't tried your script or followed the thread much and though it was for the 1.0.5+ full winvnc with -SC option or I would have offered to help. The OneClick winvnc.exe is the old singleclick 1.0.0 so it won't run properly as a service in Vista/Win7 but with an aero disable mod it should run fine as an application and disable aero to speed up Vista connections.
It would be a drop-in replacement for the online creator or anything that uses the old singleclick winvnc in application mode but it's not a replacement for 1.0.5+ service mode and you would have to deal with the UAC externally or the connection will be interrupted if it pops up.
Let me know if you want it modified. Email or PM would be quicker as I don't get to visit the forum as much as I would like.
Edit: I've already had several requests for it so it's at the link below:

awesome. thanks for your work.pgmoney wrote:It would be a drop-in replacement for the online creator or anything that uses the old singleclick winvnc in application mode
im on the road at the moment, so i will look at it when I get home.
I was going to say that i'm in two minds, one is to make the mods to the original, and maintain it in its current form.
The other is too strip the vnc parts out of the app, and make it a simple launcher of the 105+ server, thus allowing one codebase to be maintained into the future.
I was starting to figure out the later when I got crazily busy, and don't think i'll have time for the next few months (at least).
thanks again for your work, i'm sure it will be appreciated by most people, and i will give you feedback if problems occur.
