I can't cope. Vista has been out 2 years and there isn't a single decent SC solution that works the way we have been supporting clients for XP all this time.
I basically want a tool that will do the following things and I am prepared to pay IF it works!
1) Be able to make upto 5 Connections, I do not need or want encryption
2) Simple customizable Interface (Like the original SC Has)
3) Disable AERO without a reboot
4) Disable UAC, without a reboot, or allow me to click on the prompts, or worse case, at least not disconnect me when I get a prompt!
5) Reasonably Fast
6) Just WORKS!
7) Prompt on my end to accept the connection
Notification on their end the computer is being controlled.
Surely it just can't be this hard, I am not in a position to make my own, but am prepared to pay!
The problems I face with the existing connections are:
1) Disconnects as soon as I get the first full screen
2) Hangs after I click Connect, with either a Full Black Screen, or Full White Screen, closing causes VNC to crash, have this problem on more than 1 computer.
3) Disconnects when getting UAC Prompts
What do we need to do ? Is VNC just not good enough for Vista? Do we need to find another solution?

Vista Frustration with SC
Re: Vista Frustration with SC
Bump? No-one has a solution?
Re: Vista Frustration with SC
ok ... scprompt2009 does everything 7 & 8, and here is why ...networkn wrote:I basically want a tool that will do the following things and I am prepared to pay IF it works!

7) is internal into the app, I hopefully have devs working on this soon (they didn't understand what was needed, being asked of them - hopefully we can get this working soon)
I am not taking scprompt2009 any further than it is ... I will be making vnc2Me code work very similar to this in the future, and that will keep things more simple for me to keep things updated.

Re: Vista Frustration with SC
I think also Netgotiator AlterEgo is doing these.
It is very easy to use and has also features like RDP connect for
better speeds.
It does not disconnect on UAC, but your partner needs to
press the OK prompt.
If you put the executable inside a trusted directory in Vista,
(Program Files or Windows) you will also be able to press the
UAC prompt.
Try it here for FREE for non-commercial use:

Notice for the free use is also here:

As for the speed, we are testing UDP Nat2Nat and will have it ready
next week.
No need to be an Administrator when you run it, no need to install
it. There is another solution (PRO) if you want to run it as Service
and you get a nice Console that you can manage all your clients from.
It can be used will the following plugins:
VNC, RDP, Radmin, Video from IP cams, voice, and many many more.
