a strange crash

Post by goat17 »

Hi
I'Have installed the UVNC1.04 RC14 64bit on my vista ultimate 64 bit
and during the instalation I get a strange error "the application is failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect"
after the error it finishes the installation but when i try to lunch the server or the viewer it gives me the same error again.
anyone knows anything about this?

screenshots?

Install service with shortcuts use sevice manager to check all is ok, just a guess...

Theres many reasons why 64bit is not a choice for me

I will verify it.
Crosscompiled without testing on a real 64bit, could be a manifest error.

Indeed, manifest is wrong , will make an update

Uploading corrected files.

Rudi,
I am getting the "side-by-side configuration" error when using the "vncviewer_tab.exe" that is included with the UltraVNC Viewer 1.0.5.4 for X64 Security update. Does this need fixed also?

I also get this error on Vista x64, and this with a spam new 1.0.5.6 installation when attempting to use the UltraVNC DirectX viewer. The eventlog has this to say:

Log Name: Application
Source: SideBySide
Date: 4/4/2009 11:49:52 AM
Event ID: 78
Level: Error

Description:
Activation context generation failed for "C:\Program Files (x86)\UltraVNC\vncviewer_tab.exe".Error in manifest or policy file "" on line . A component version required by the application conflicts with another component version already active. Conflicting components are:. Component 1: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\amd64_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.6001.18000_none_152e7382f3bd50c6.manifest. Component 2: C:\Windows\WinSxS\manifests\x86_microsoft.windows.common-controls_6595b64144ccf1df_6.0.6001.18000_none_5cdbaa5a083979cc.manifest.

It seems that 2 manifests where added.

I will put an updated version online (version is 1054), no 1056 update for this viewer.
( Not tested, current no more x64 OS installed)

I'm getting this same error in 64-bit Windows 7 when trying to run version1.0.5.6 of the 64-bit DirectX viewer. May as well take it out of the download if it's not going to be made to work at all.

Edit: The version you linked in the post above this one also crashes immediately when I run it.
