Hi there,
I've tried multiple VNC viewers and I can't get any of them to refresh the screen after a successful connection and transfer of the first frame. When I click somewhere, I can't see the interface refresh as a response to that action, but when I walk into the other room to look at the screen, the computer has clearly received the command I sent it.
I've had this problem since I got the machine, with multiple versions of UltraVNC and with the original Windows Vista Home Basic release that came on the computer.
I've tried installing UltraVNC with and without the special Vista drivers.
Here is my setup:
Dell Studio Hybrid 140G
Windows Vista Home Basic (32-bit) Service Pack 1
Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset Family
Because it's Windows Vista Basic, the basic Aero appearance is in effect (no transparency in the interface's glass, for example).

UltraVNC Server not updating the screen
Re: UltraVNC Server not updating the screen
I am having a simalar issue. Details below.
My setup, the server is running on vista home on a laptop. I am accessing it form a debian squeeze laptop. I use the service to monitor my children's activities on the laptop. The connection is wireless and passing through a linux firewall but not restricted by the firewall.
I am able to login to the vista laptop fine and the screen is very responsive to the input form the linux laptop and with the two setting beside each other you wouldn't know that the input is coming in over the network.
The display on the linux laptop how ever takes about 10 seconds to update. I have tried tied installing the video driver in vista and that didn't help.
I have also observed the same behavior when accessing the vista laptop form a desktop running xp using both ultra-vncviewer and a generic vncviewer.
Accessing the xp desktop form the linux laptop results in proper update speeds. The xp desktop is using ultra-vncserver. Accessing the linux laptop from the vista laptop results in proper update speeds.
So it seams that this is a problem related only to screen updates coming form the vista laptop.
How do I address this issue?
