i try to search for a solution before posting this but i got no solution. i try to type in my ip and port and it work on my computer, but when i try it on 5 other computer, it doesn't work. a no response page comes up. i read somewhere that you don't need java and that the java is loaded onto the pc when you connect. i use the port i forwarded. i don't know what DSM is so i didn't get any plugins. what i want to know is, what are all the possible problem that can cause this? thanks.
well
I guess a bit more info would be helpful -
Version of UltraVNC you are using - on the server
OS for the server
If it is running SP2 if it is XP
Do you have any software Firewall on that server machine?
If it is windows 2000 or higher is this server set up as a service?
Are the computers you are using to view (via the web) on a LAN over a WAN ect?
If over a WAN - do you know how to set up port forwarding and have you verified the ports are open?
-when connecting to the server via the web browser ,on a lan for instance, the plugin auto loads on the viewer machine if it connects properly. The caveats here are - Do you have a software firewall prohibiting you from connecting to that port (either via XPSP2 or Norton or whatever). If you have the firewall on have you disabled it to test out the connection? And importantly do you do this on a LAN or WAN ip. If you are doing it on a local network to each other (meaning they are connected via a hub or router) as long as the server has the port open it should work just fine. If you are doing it over a WAN (from a hotspot or from a friends house) you have to set up something called Port Forwarding on the router in order for people on the internet to connect to your internal computer.
Well, more info and im sure someone can help you with this.
