Need: better refresh screen time on Vista running Uvnc SC or alternative.
I realize Vista isn't being cooperative with Uvnc. Is there a non install solution that works pretty well on Vista (server side) encrypted? Meaning 1-3 seconds delay at most. I have been trying Uvnc SC on Vista 32bit and XP 64bit. I'm going to omit 64bit and realize most people don't use 64bit, but that's what my WAN test friend had. I have not gotten better then 7-10 seconds delay using Uvnc SC on Vista 32bit over WAN.
What I've done...
Played with the built in connection settings on Uvnc SC and Uvnc Viewer, lower them, auto, mixture, uncheck this, recheck that, etc.
Half arse install hook dll unto the Vista 32bit. (not sure if it works with Uvnc SC).
Change my port from 5500 to one below 1024 (someone mentioned ISP's cap ports higher then that.
Disable Aero, Re-enable Aero when noticed not much difference.
One strange thing I did notice the activity light on viewer isn't very active, and when I check the session status the bytes sent / receive seems ridiculously low. I understand not needing to send much, but without the factual numbers in front of me I'd say 3mb for a 30min session. I see the green/red lights blink every 10 seconds. And when it does get bytes, it goes up around 100-200 kb. My kb speed reported by the status is 600-800 kb/s.
I have a 7mb/512kb ISP, test friend is on a 2mb/1mb ISP. I've seriously thought about jumping up to a 15mb/2mb through my ISP but I remember using full color over dialup with PcAnywhere 10 years ago, I have a hard time thinking it's the bandwidth with nothing eating it up but VNC.
I've thought about throwing Uvnc server with hook up on my test subjects, but I'd really like not to have to install a client.
I am looking for suggestions for Uvnc SC or alternative Uvnc solutions that work best with Vista today and now.

Thanks a bunch. Look forward to seeing how it performs on Vista 32bit.
