How can I get UltraVNC to only use one of two NICs?

Post by remoteman »

I have a machine that has an intranet NIC and an Internet NIC. UltraVNC listens on both and answers on either IP.

How can I make it only answer on the inside Intranet NIC?

I searched and could find anything.

Thank you for any help.

Since UVNC will bind to all available NIC, you are not able to configure it to only response to a particular IP with a simple method.

I think you have two alternatives:
1. Config your firewall to block all 5800 & 5900 inbound connection other than the Intranet NIC, or

2. Since you want the UVNC server to answer the Intranet NIC only, I guess you just want that PC to be remote accessed from the LAN. You may use the AuthHosts option in ultravnc.ini, to configure the server only accept connection from specific local IP/Network. All other connection will then be rejected.

In fact, to have max. security, you can apply both methods.
