Windows XP Home with MS Logon-I does not work with 1.0.5.4

Post by vatbier »

My sisters computer has Windows XP Home en had ultravnc 1.0.2 installed and I could always connect to it using MS Logon-I (username/password).

Now I have ultravnc 1.0.5.3 installed on her computer and I can no longer use MS Logon-I to connect to it. Only simple VNC password works.

I did everything that I could think of to let MS Logon-I work but I always got an error when trying to connect to her computer: I can enter a username and a password but it returns with an error.

Must be a new bug in 1.5.3/4 or can someone tell me an exhaustive walkthrough on how to configure ultravnc on Windows XP Home?

Do you have any Group defined in the MS logon setup?

May be this is the result of an old bug that still not fixed.

Reference [topic=12189]this thread[/topic] to see if the mentioned workaround can solve the problem.

A minor bug is found in the MS Logon Setup.

When the server is running on XP, the local administrators group should always be allowed to access, but if all the entry of the three groups are empty, the server will reject any connection.

On the other hand, if any one of them have something input -- even if not a valid group name, the server can accept local administrators group to logon (work as expected).

I found this problem on both 1.0.2 & RC14Bis server, running on WinXP.
Ah, thanks for the info. I will try this as soon as possible.
I think the MS Logon Setup of my sisters computer was completely empty.
I'll enter a group name in it and see if MS Logon-I will work.

Yes, it works!
I entered in MS logon setup "Administrators" in Group 1 and enabled "Local".
Then I pressed Apply and selected not the current user but the option below: same user but with a password.
Then I could connect with username/password.

Thanks!
This info should be in the FAQ.
