Hi All,
Firstly I would like to compliment you all on what a brilliant tool UltraVNC is. I used to use TightVNC but I am a true convert to the more stable and responsive UltraVNC. Great work guys.
I am (or at least I believe I am) very close to cracking this myself but there is an issue that I can’t seem to locate the origin of. So after a good day of trying to work through it myself I am throwing it to the experts in this forum in the hope that someone can steer me in the right direction…
I have followed the guides carefully and have created an UltraVNC SC executable with an rc4.key. The custom file contains the files background.bmp, icon1.ico, icon2.ico, logo.bmp, rc4.key and of course helpdesk.txt which is here for your perusal,,,

The WAN Router (Netgear Prosafe FVS336G) has a Security Rule - Ult. VNC Repeater rule allowing TCP connections through ports 5510 - 5513 and an Inbound Service Rule forwarding all traffic from ports 5510 - 5513 through to the IP address of the support PC (192.168.0.13). This all seems to be correct from what I can see.
When I run the DragonstarVNC.exe all appears to be correct. The layout is what I want, including logo etc. and 2 possible connections on ports 5512 and 5513. On selection of support channel 1 (Port 5513) the correct messages appear and I end up with a systray icon showing listening (as if waiting for someone establish a connection).
I have copied the rc4.key to the support PC in both the UltraVNC install directory and in the plugins directory within it.
Question 1: Which is the correct location for the rc4.key on the support pc?
I have created a shortcut with the following Target parameters…
"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -listen -dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm
When I run the UltraVNC Viewer on the support PC I note the dsmplugin is MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm while all the guides refer to MSRC4Plugin.dsm. I only have the MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm option available in my UltraVNC Viewer connection so I have adjusted the shortcut accordingly.
When checking the MSRC4 Plugin Configuration I have noticed that the environmental variable is not found (I presume this is a reference to the system Path and the variable does not exist) then the file is searched for (found and used) in the installation path of C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\rc4.key. Guess: This is the correct location for the rc4.key (Question 1)
Question 2: What is the difference between MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm and MSRC4Plugin.dsm?
So for all intensive purposes the UltraVNC SC is running on the client pc and I have set the UltraVNC viewers security key at both ends. All should be functional but this is not the case.
Question 3: Can anyone see the error in my configuration file or settings?
Question 4: What am I supposed to see on the support PC when someone instigates a help connection with me?
As mentioned I know (believe) I almost have it but the final connection still eludes me.
Any constructive criticism and guidance will be most gratefully appreciated.
Many thanks in advance
Karl

Re: What am I missing?...
Basically, other than some minor problems (which should not causing failure for a successful connection), your setup is OK.
But there is ONE BIG PROBLEM:
Did you create your SC.exe by using the UVNC.com online creator?
I assume you did.
Then you must aware: Unless you provide the dsmplugin file, otherwise UVNC.com will create the SC.exe with a MSRC4Plugin.dsm of version 1.1.6, which is not compatible with the one you used (MSRC4Plugin-122.dsm is version 1.2.2)
For detail, you may read [topic=12187]SC with MSRC4Plugin --> "Buffer to big"[/topic]
