VncViewer cannot connect with Proxy Authentication to Server

Post by cla2000 »

hi,

I have installed UltraVnc server at home and is working fine (home firewall ports forwarded correctly, could connect locally).

But the problem arises when I want to connect to my home computer from work as I have to Authenticate with username and password to the company´s proxy for getting access to Internet.
As I have seen UltraVnc has a proxy option but no username and password boxes could be find. Is this option missing?
VncViewer from TightVnc doesn´t even think about proxy authentication yet...
How can I connect with UltraVnc viewer with proxy authentication? I have tried to set proxy_ip:port but nothing happens

At the moment the only client that has this support from proxies is Smartcode Vnc Manager and It works great, but it is not free and It expires after 14 days.

thank you,

C.

I dont have a proxy so im not sure how to configure that option.. Im sure its something that works :-)

Why not just use the Web viewer instead? Free, uses web browser which most often when you open it and it goes out to the inet you are prompted for your proxy information at that time then you can browse at will.

By default it is port 5800 - this would need to be opened up to the server. Also you specify the port in the VIEWER's web browser - e.g. http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5800 As long as the proxy is open to that port it should work.. If not you can always try port 80.

The proxy option in Ultravnc is referring to something also called repeater which is part of the UltraVNC software.
It does not imply that you can use your corporate (web) proxy.
