Am I missing something when it comes to using a repeater?

Post by lama rama »

Hi, I am able to use a direct connection via the internet to a friends computer and through my home network.

However, when using 'via repeater' I seem to be having a little trouble.

Repeater settings are as follows:

ID: *******
Password: *******
Host repeater : vserver.homeftp.org
Listen Port viewer : 5900
Listen Port server 5500

All my ports are open and 'Test' confirms this. I have also pinged vserver.homeftp.org and that is ok!

Created a server with these details and put it on my other computer and set the viewer to 'start'

Viewer then says 'Start Encryption, waiting server'

When I run the server all is well and it accepts the ID & Password

The server then says 'waiting for viewer'

Thats it, nothing else happens both just sit there. Viewer waiting for server and Server waiting for viewer.

Anybody got any clue.

I don't see any problem with your setup.
Actually I tried to do the same and got connected without any problem.

What is your ID?

Be sure that it must be digit only, and is best to have 4 digits or more in length.

Ah!!!!!

my ID is a series of letters should it only be numerical - is this causing the problem?

If so - does the password have to be numerical or can it be letters.

Just Got it to work - brilliant now I can put the link on my website.

Password can be any printable character.

Nice to know to get it worked.
