Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
Kindof new to SC UVNC, have tested and works great w/ XP from both ends. However, I run viewer on XP Pro SP3 machine. If I have a client connect from a Vista machine w/ UAC I have problems. The sessions gets kicked whenever the UAC window pops up? What am I doing wrong.
This is the version I am running:
[topic=14063][/topic]
I have installed the drivers for 1.0.5 from UVNC website.
Any pointers?

Hello All! I have just been and tried the link posted in caramels first post to find it no longer works. So for all of you that require a fully tested and working VISTA SC then see the link below.

or

There is no read me included so i will post more information in a while but for the time being, just have a play. I hope this helps a few people out.

EDIT: Added megaupload link as no one seems to be able to download from the other one (not sure why as i can and my friends can too?)

It says the file is no longer there anymore. Do you have another link to get this latest working Vista single click version? Thanks!!Radeon wrote:Hello All! Mediafire link works just fine here.Drumznut wrote:Yeah, strange, not sure why I can't get it from the other link...

As for those that have no clue how to modify files. You just need to modify helpdesk.txt in the SC_VNC_Files folder. The bottom of this page is a mini tutorial of how to edit this file for your needs. http://www.uvnc.com/addons/singleclick.html
Make sure to right click Compile.bat and select Run as Administrator if you are in Vista.
Thanks Radeon!
Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
yes this one works oke , no compatibilty problem in vista,
only 1 little problem in file transfer ..smaller files go's oke but bigger files not if you want to cancel the trasfer it keeps running to copy that .
BTW is there a possibiliti to show a brief alert box with : thanks for calling our helpdesk ?
it would be nice to let the client know that we are disconnecting and they can control the pc again.
its inportant to let clients know that we are closing the connection !
and this is all a great job to all of you !! thanks

Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
I found a problem with the SC_VNC.au3 file. It's missing the following line:
Code: Select all
FileInstall( "SC_VNC_Files\rc4.key", @TempDir & "\SC_VNC_Temp_Files\rc4.key", 1 )
Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
Still not working for me when the remote machine is Vista Home Premium. Same problem as noted earlier - remote screen connects and shows for millisecond then disconnects. Working excellently with Vista Business and Ultimate (aero & non-aero, UAC & non-UAC). Helpdesk machine running XP Pro. Using 1.0.5.3
Anyone else have this problem with Vista Home Premium?
Have not tested Home Basic.

Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
Thanks for this Vista-enabled version of UltraVNC. However, even tough remote support functions perfectly, it is unusable due to the use of AutoIT. More and more virusscanners are, unjustly, identifying AutoIT applications as trojans/virusses. Of course, that's a no-go -- we can't have antivirus applications shouting out alerts at users.Radeon wrote:Hello All! i have found that if you use autoit to pack files inside the EXE, then virus scanners have a problem with it, but if you use 7zip to pack your exe and run the autoit app, then generally these don't have issues ...Wildfire wrote:Thanks for this Vista-enabled version of UltraVNC. Please could you explain how you used 7zip and autoit to create the .exe file? Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
Hi all,
I've had a look at the nircmd scripts for radeons solution and from that I am trying to produce a solution that will run without admin priviledges.
First off I've found that the UVNC viewer can actually disable aero and wallpaper itself.
Second I have made a mini batch file that automatically reconnects UVNC SC after the user has answered the UAC prompts.
Thirdly I am trying to create 2 separate .reg files so that if a PC has UAC enabled and they are not an administrator, I can first connect to them through SC then manually run a .reg script to disable UAC prompting by right clicking this file and selecting "Run as Administrator" and then entering the Domain password for the client. I would then have to run another script for when I am finished (to enable UAC again). I guess these two scripts could be combined so that running a single script just changes off->on and on->off.
Of course all this is avoiding the UVNC addon drivers which I don't believe are entirely necessary as long as aero is disabled.
So far the autoreconnect batch file is
All these files are then put into a self extracting executable and the autoreconnect batch file is executed.
The problem is coming up with the .reg scripts seen as I am not entirely confident myself in converting Radeon's winvnc.cmd (written in nircmd code) to .reg format. Anyone know how?
EDIT: I ran the winvnc.cmd without the nircmd.exe line and it executed but couldn't add the 2 registry entries since it said access denied for both despite the fact I specifically ran it as administrator.
EDIT 2: No need, just found this godly piece of software that runs standalone "TweakUAC". It allows you to run UAC in quiet mode without a restart just like the script. =))

7zip is a little complex, and i'm working on an app that will pack all files in a directory into an EXE, but its still under development, in the mean time, another way of packaging is by using iexpress (is installed by default winXP)

Thanks Caramel and cyberdoc for a great job
Was close to give up on UltraVNC because of the slow Vista problem, but thanks to you, I can still use my preferred support tool.
Just one suggestion: Put the cyberdoc release as one of the first messages, so we don't have to read the hole tread.

Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
a couple of issue are still present:
1. You need to work as admin in order to run the tool.
2. I've added in the SC_VNC.au3 my rc4.key file in order to use the encryption plugin with a linux repeater
All seems to be fine but the connection remain sticked in to "negotiate protocol version".
Everything is ok if I don't use the encryption. Using SC Builder 2009 by Nitro everything is ok but it's a closed source app.
Have you any idea how to solve it??
than you

Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
Well after many many months I still cant get my favourite tool to work with Vista.
I am running Windows XP SP3. I have Kaspersky internet security (though I have switched this off and tried) and I still cant get it to work.
I suffer the same problem as a few other people - I get a flash of the server screen then the whole app exits.
In An effort to try and help someone find an answer I ran a packet capture on a attempted vista session and got this. I hope it makes sense to someone:

can you pm me a link to the wireshark log of this session, and i will run it on a session that works, and compare the two, and see where it breaks. Well, I tried the following:
1. Different network cards
2. Fresh Iinstall XP
3. Latest Version of VNC Viewer
I then decided it had to be the little server applet that gets complied so I used the latest version I could find which was SC_VNC_Vista_Autoit....
Time will tell if it works - only tested on 1 Vista machine so far....

For all those who get the:
Error: Error opening the destination file.
I found that is was my antivirus that was causing the problem. If I disabled the resident shield then ran the builder, I had no problems. I couldn't find an answer for this on the forum so I thought I add it here in case.
Looking forward to an non Aut2Exe release

1st off, Thanks for the script! It works asside from 1 question.
How do I get it to keep the -id string found in the helpdesk.txt file. I want the customer to just double click "Connect with Support" in the box and have it use the ID I supplied in the document so I dont have to tell the end use what ID to enter for the session.

there is more than one in this topic ...
most applications in this topic are just wrappers that turn off UAC and maybe aero, then run the old sc ... after old sc exits, they return app to original state and exit ...
have you checked that your helpdesk.txt works with just old sc app ??

Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
For anyone that is a programmer, if you were to look at the code used for the program TwistedBrush application could probably easily find a way to have in the exe that is created with say SC Creator that disables Aero immediately upon execution then re-enables it upon closing.
This would then give those the speed needed to be able to remotely use UVNC on Vista machines.
There also should be simple vbs scripts out there for enabling and disabling UAC created by Microsoft or someone on their end that could also be added to SC.
With a combination of both of these the Vista issues should be gone for UVNC and these could be included and automatically configured within the UNVC SC Creator, so that creation of your own exe would still be as easy as it is now without any changes except to the Creator itself behind the scenes.
If I'm late about all of this can someone post what is needed and how to fix the SLOW issues with Vista and UAC to be able to just add to the custom.zip and have the creator add automatically without having to change the helpdesk.txt
TIA

I am interested on your solution for using UVNC SC with Windows Vista, I downloaded the file put my configuration files inside the SC_VNC_Files Folder and ran Compile.cmd. I did it using Windows XP. It created a .exe file.
Then I asked a friend with a Windows Vista PC to install and run the new exe file. I received the connection request, it opened but after a few seconds it got closed. Am I missing something?
Thanks

Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
Hi JDaus,
This link did the work http://support1.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload4.pl
I have made some tests with Vista and it is working fine.
I just have a question:
In this page http://www.uvnc.com/pchelpware/sc/creator.html you find two options to generate the .exe file for remote support. At the buttom of that page it says
When uploading still gives trouble, please try following links
Based on RC3 Based on Rel1.00
But the first one sends you to http://support1.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload3.pl
and the second one to http://support1.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload2.pl
Why the official option is not using http://support1.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload4.pl, is it experimental?
Best Regards.
Re: SC + Vista Compatibility - WORKING!!!!!!
firstly, you should be asking questions about the information in the linked thread, within that thread, not this, as it saves confusion by future readers of this threadJDaus wrote:[topic=15865][/topic]
Yes, it is still in testing, and when no more complaints are received, I am sure it will be added to the official webpage ... but I am not the developers, so I cannot say for sure ...miguel77mex wrote:This link did the work http://support1.uvnc.com/cgi-bin/upload4.pl
