When in Admin Properties, it closes within a few seconds

Post by cwestgor »

When I go into Admin Properties via right click on the icon in the task bar, it stays up for a few seconds and then closes. I cannot make any changes to the settings as I am not fast enough.

This happens whether I go in via remote, or on the server itself.

Server: VMWare - W2003 Server w/ SP2

Ideas?
Thanks!
Chris

Take a look to the tasmanager. You will find two vnc server running. In my case, the old version of ultravnc (1.0.4) was not successfully removed when I installed 1.0.5

Thanks for the thought, but this was a fresh install on a new server. I did look to make sure there were no other similar services running.

I think I will try a few more items with the service and how they are configured.

Thanks again for the idea!
Thanks!

OK, this is a little wierd . . .

When installed on other servers, including virtual servers on VMWare ESX boxes, the service can run fine under local account as we always use an admin account on these boxes.

However, the new set of servers with the issue are virtual servers, using VMWare ESX with the latest patches. Once I set the UltraVNC service to use a specific admin account, it worked with no problem. No closing unexpectedly, etc. When I reset the service to local account, the problem returns.

The only thing I can attribute this to would be the newer version of VMWare Tools which get installed onto the virtual servers. The OS and software are basically the same.
Thanks!
