Both of the products you've just described are currently being developed, i'll make an announcement when a beta release is made available.

I'm using a reg file to import all settings on my vnc-installed machines
Till now i used a password, now my boss wants to give users the yes/no feature to accept our connections (prompt local user to accept connections)

Do you know which keys i have to modify to obtain that?

All,

I have two boxes (XP & Ubuntu) running VNC Enterprise Server. Currently on my router, the XP default port is set to 5900 and the Ubuntu box is set to 5901.

I want to change the default port for the XP box to 5999 but it simply won't work. I can hit the ubuntu box by VNC'ing to "IP:5901" but when I change the port for the XP box to 5999 I can't access it externally by "IP:5999" (it is also configured on the server as well). Here is the error I get:

"vnc failed to connect: Connection refused (61)"

While I'm on my LAN I can access it via the 5999 port but not outside it (192.168.1.*:5999 authenticates and works).

Any help would be appreciated

I have connected RealVNC through a router to a single workstation before, but a friend who has three people in a workgroup wants to give them access from home as well with VNC. I think I've done everything right, but I'm still not able to connect from outside (works fine inside the router if I leave them all at port 5900). I think the router may be suspect, or I have it configured wrong, but before I go that far I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me if my logic for this connection is correct (I may have over analyzed some things). Thanks in advance!

This office has a public IP of 9.8.7.6

The router address is 1.1.1.0

There are three users inside the router (static IP's):
1.1.1.1
1.1.1.2
1.1.1.3

VNC loaded up in server mode on each PC, firewalls off.

Setup VNC to accept connections on 5901, 5902, and 5903 (respective with their IP addresses)

Router setup to port forward 5901, 5902, 5903 to their respective IP addresses

From the outside world, I go to

http://9.8.7.6:5901 to connect to the first workstation

Does this look correct? The instructions say I would just go to the address of 9.8.7.6:1, but that didn't work either. Thank you!

Not sure why you're using http: ?

If you're using the executable Viewer, then you'd just specify ipaddress::portnumber (two colons)

If you're trying to use the Java viewer from a web browser, that's when you'd use the http. Is that what you're doing?

(I'm basing this on my use of TightVNC and UltraVNC. It's been a while since I've used the RealVNC version.)

I tried using ultra at first but had a hard time setting it up. Realvnc setup was simple. I have a basic login where the person only needs to put the password in, the user name is usually blanked out, and it works just as needed. I tried to setup a "guest" log in, no password and not interactivity. But the server wants a manual "accept connection", I want to disable this but cant figure out how.

I want to be able to have both a interactive and a non-interactive account.

Problems with the latest version of Real VNC when using VNC Pocket Office Pro and VNC Pocket Office 4 Pro have been FIXED on the iPhone and iPad.

I run a vnc server for work, untill last week I was using windows XP and realvnc ran great on it. My HD failed so upgraded and ended up going with windows 7. Now it the server lags like hell, when you log in not only does the viewer screen lag when loading but all actions as well. A restart clears it up but its a major pain to do a few times a day.

Now Id try another server BUT the people at my work have so little computer experience its a joke. I have to dumb everything down for them, that includes the VNC viewer. If its not "click connect" and enter password they freeze like a deer in headlights. So my question is, is there a fix for this real VNC server (ver E4.5.4) or is there another server I can use that this RealVNC viewer can also with? Just trying to find a better option. Thanks



Edit: I need to add, first off Im the tech guy but self taught so I dont have a lot of experience myself with stuff like this. Second my server is running 1 real monitor and 3 dummy VGAs. So I need to be able to see all 4 monitors with the viewer, I know Iv tried other servers in the past with the viewer not being able to view the monitors. That was one of the main reasons I went with Real, their viewer had no issues viewing it all.

i dont know about RealVNC But Ultra VNC can save all connection info of the viewer host,port etc so you just click a shortcut

another idea...
if you run also the java viewer you can create a shortcut of the link so the user just clicks the link opens inside the browser and it is ready to use

Is it possible in RealVNC to create a unique user name and password for each name for everyone joining the server? Im not looking to use the Windows log in info either. We have a few people we had to let go of our company but they still have access to the servers, I dont want to have to create a new generic password for any time someone leaves. Thanks
