Proxy Server Port Mapping

Post by Joe »

Hi. im using wingate proxy server to create a TCP Port Mapping to another computer on my network so that i can login to it remotely as well as my main computer. This works simply by creating a mapping with a custom port and tellling the mapping which address and port to connect to on the lan. The client works just fine but its the http/java viewer that has a problem... it gets to the login screen but when i enter the password it just waits about 15-20 seconds then gives me connection error message... thats all it says. Anyone have any ideas ?

My first problem is that you are using Wingate.. There are a ton of issues (Mainly security) with that program no matter how many fixes they say they have..

Second question - why not just get a router for 30 bucks at the local store or off of ebay to do the "Port Forwarding" for you? Rather than software driven technology that is very prone to bad things.

Lastly - Nope no ideas as to why wingate isnt properly forwarding the requests.
