I ran vncviewer /listen 5500 /dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin-122... a nice little green icon showed up in my systray saying it is listening.
I setup a SC executable and passed it to an external machine.
I set it up [DIRECT] with one host and matching key file to above.
I ran that executable and the big dialog popped up for a couple seconds,
then the first balloon saying its connecting for a few seconds,
then the second balloon saying its connected and warning me my desktop is viewable. Great!
But the only thing that has shown up back where I was listening is a thin beige sliver at the top middle of the screen. Nothing else.
Both sides seem to be happy... but nothing is visible.
On the SC side, mousing over the systray icon, it oddly says: "WinVNC - listening".
On the side that should be displaying more than the sliver, mousing over the systray icon, it still says: "Ultr@VNC Viewer listening - Port:5500".
When I close the SC side, on the other side the beige sliver across the top vanishes and up pops a dialog saying:
Connection failed - Error reading Protocol Version
Possible causes:
- You've forgotten to select a DSMPlugin and the Server uses a DSMPlugin
Soooo, any advice on what I might need to try next?
Is there any sort of log file to look for errors or anything?
THANKS!

I'm not sure if your problem was caused by the imcompatibility of the DSMplugin.
See if the thread [topic=12187]SC with MSRC4Plugin --> "Buffer to big"
[/topic] can help.

Thanks... that was indeed the problem.
