CrossLoop

Post by redge »

http://www.crossloop.com

What is CrossLoop?

CrossLoop is a FREE secure screen sharing utility designed for people of all technical skill levels. CrossLoop extends the boundaries of VNC’s traditional screen sharing by enabling non-technical users to get connected from anywhere on the Internet in seconds without changing any firewall or router settings. It only takes a few minutes to setup and no signup is required.

Is CrossLoop Secure?

Security is built into all aspects of CrossLoop. Session data is encrypted at the end-points before being sent using a 128-bit encryption algorithm using a randomly generated 12-digit access code. Explicit permission is required before any screen images are sent to a remote computer. CrossLoop is a secure tool to remotely assist any PC on the planet.

Re: CrossLoop

I am having trouble getting CrossLoop to connect from a Vista PC to a BartPE CD (http://ubcd4win.com) version of CrossLoop. The application is first copied to a RAMDisk and then executed (verified).

The connection gets established from both ends to the CrossLoop servers. The problem arises when the RAMDisk CrossLoop opens WINVNC.EXE and then it terminates immediately after.

I have verified that both PCs will connect when I boot to a normal OS.
I have verified RAMDisk version of CrossLoop will Access the Shared Vista PC.
I cannot understand why the Vista PC will NOT Access the Shared RAMDisk CrossLoop. It has something to do with WINVNC.EXE terminating prematurely.

Any ideas?

Ultimately what I need is to boot up a PC with Ultimate Boot CD and share a session via CrossLoop. I have verified that both PCs will connect when I boot to a normal OS. Vista works great, no compatibility mode problems.

For those that have tried CrossLoop, I have setup the "Access" PC and the "Share" PC in the following situations. Some were fully successful, others were partial. Again, I believe it has something to do with the WINVNC.EXE -- I cannot explain why it prematurely terminates before sharing the session.

Scenario1:
Access OS=Vista, Shared OS=XP
CrossLoop authenticates and sessions are shared. I can even swap roles.

Scenario2:
Access OS=Ultimate Boot CD, Shared OS=Vista
CrossLoop authenticates and sessions are shared.

Scenario3: (This is the ideal situation)
Access OS=Vista, Shared OS=Ultimate Boot CD
CrossLoop authenticates but the session cannot access the shared OS.

Scenario4:(for redge)
Access OS=Vista (XP Compatibility Mode), Shared OS=Ultimate Boot CD
CrossLoop authenticates but the session cannot access the shared OS.

Scenario5:(for grins)
Access OS=XP SP2, Shared OS=Ultimate Boot CD
CrossLoop authenticates but the session cannot access the shared OS.

In the last 3 scenarios, I saw an instance of WinVNC.exe load and unload itself in the Task Manager window. One second it was there, a half a second later it was gone. In the successful scenarios, WinVNC.exe stays up and running which I assume is the session sharing window. Is there a problem with CrossLoop running from a RAMdrive? Has anyone had a successful session running CrossLoop from UBCD?

The engineers at CrossLoop.com stated the WinVNC.exe is a derivative of TIGHTVNC and pointed to several registry entries that may be the problem.

Should I repost this problem in a different forum?
