UVNC - Over HTTPS, no client

Post by venom »

Hello,

I have fortunately setup UVNC with the VNC Viewer and server correctly after altering my firewall. It works great. I also was able to get the HTTP method working.

However, I wanted to find out, is it somehow possible to setup HTTPS with UVNC? I would love to be able to go somewhere and reach my systems without having to download the UVNC client and my AES key which is dangerous of course on a public or friends computer somewhat.

Thanks for any tips and leads!

HTTP is not VNC both are different protocols

so what is possible for VNC might not work for HTTP

a suggestion : carry the VNC client with AES key on your USB disk

or setup OpenVPN with X.509 cert auth and open VNC to that network

No. You cannot use HTTPS, but you may need a secure channel under the VNC protocol. There are several ways. Basically, you need a VPN software, OpenVPN, NeoRouter. I would recommend NeoRouter (http://www.neorouter.com), as it's easier to use, supports multiple secure channels (SSL) and have user management. In word, it makes a virtual LAN over the Internet, so that you can run VNC over it and even file sharing, printer sharing and so on.

Good luck
